At the beginning the house known today was the central part of a majestic house from the 16th century whose construction was ordered by Joan Carbonell, merchant of Sedó in 1588. In the second half of the 18th century the manor house was divided in three, being the central part the house we know as Cal Plaça from the 20th century. During the first years the house was occupied by the owner Joan Carbonell and his family; when the house was inherited by his daughter it was no longer the family main residence and at the beginning of the 18th century it is occupied by the farmers, being the house only for residential and agricultural use. At the end of the 18th century this use was combined with the smithy and during the quarter of the 20th century and until the civil war broke out it was a café and a dance hall.

Today the house begins a new activity as a independent rural house.
